Welcome! I am Cathy Clark, the owner of Wines Unlimited, passionate wine lover and your dedicated winemaker.
I relocated to Oakville from the UK with my husband, three daughters and two Labradors in May 2012. Prior to our relocation, I had plans to open my own independent wine bar in the UK. So when we arrived in Oakville, I was determined to find the best winemaker and explore the wonderful world of craft winemaking – a concept which has not yet been discovered in the UK. And I did just that!
In the summer of 2012 I made a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc at Wines Unlimited that changed the course of my life. The wine itself was fantastic and I was proud to serve it to friends & family. In fact I was so impressed with my wine that I decided to pursue my passion for wine further and purchased Wines Unlimited in October 2012!
Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our loyal guests as well as introducing new passionate winemakers to the joys of craft winemaking. My name is Gail Morrone. I joined Wines Unlimited as a craft winemaker in September 2015. When i was 4 years old i had some prominent adults ask me “what do you want to be when you grow up”? I sat beside my toys and said “me” – and that is exactly who I am.
I have had the pleasure of living in many parts of Canada. I was born in Vancouver B.C., spent years in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and then Ontario. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, I went on to be a full time mother and to raise two lovely boys. During this time, i also worked in family law as a Paralegal and then as a financial consultant. Another aspect of myself is that i am classically trained in piano. I also write and enjoy drawing and painting. This creative part of myself is what led me to step away from the busy corporate world and is why craft winemaking is such a great fit for me.
In 2014, I became a dogwalker and that is how i met Cathy Clark. I walked Cathy’s lovely family pets, Poppy & Chilli, for two years. And when Cathy approached me with an opportunity to join her at WU I knew it was the place I wanted to be.
Wines Unlimited isn’t just a craft winemaking store – it is a place where people come to commune, create and enjoy the simple and best things in life.
